In the wake of multiple Allied Democratic Force (ADF) rebel attacks in Kasese District, concerns have been raised about local residents collaborating with the terrorist group.
According to Lt. Maate Magwara, the Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner responsible for Bukonzo County, intelligence reports suggest that some residents have connections with ADF rebels, posing a significant threat to the region.
Lt. Maate issued a stern warning to residents, cautioning them against any involvement with ADF rebels, who have been responsible for nearly 50 deaths in less than a year. He delivered this message during a recent security meeting with the community of Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council in Nyabugando I Cell, also known as Kabiriti.
Lt. Maate emphasized that such collaboration puts the district at risk of insecurity and urged locals to report any suspicious activities promptly, allowing security forces to carry out their duties effectively.
Residents of Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, including prominent figures like Luke Bamuthendwire, Wilson Thembo, and Sitaluzi Biira, have pledged their commitment to cooperate with the Uganda People's Defense Forces in the fight against the ADF rebels, recognizing the impact of these attacks on their community.
Meanwhile, Mapozi Selevest, the Local Three Chairpersons for Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council, announced plans to engage security forces in the registration of all tenants in the town, aiming to enhance security measures.
