Man Poses as Royal Guard, Arrested at Rwenzururu King's 57th Anniversary Coronation


The Rwenzori East Police have arrested an individual who claimed to be a Royal Guard from Bunyangabu on charges of unlawful wounding and assaulting a police officer during the coronation anniversary.

According to a statement from SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, the event continued as planned despite the arrest of Maate Kathindu, who had falsely identified himself as a Royal Guard from Bunyangabu District.


His Majesty Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma, the king of Rwenzururu, is celebrating the 57th Anniversary Coronation today, with the main event held at the Golf Course Club in Kasese. The Chief Guest for the occasion is Rtd Maj Jessica Arupo, the Vice President of the Republic of Uganda.


Other notable attendees include Hon Chris Baryomunsi, Hon Kabyanga Godfrey, Hon Peace Mutuzo, as well as Area MPs from both Kasese and other regions. Many subjects of the Rwenzururu kingdom have gathered to witness this memorable event in the area.
