In a notable gathering at Kilembe Golf Course yesterday, King Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma urged his subjects in the Rwenzururu Kingdom to uphold traditional customs and practices, emphasizing the importance of portraying a positive image for their cultural community.
King Mumbere expressed his concern about the negative perception that may arise when Rwenzururu subjects deviate from their cultural norms and stressed the need to rekindle the lost glory of the Banya
Rwenzururu by promoting their cultural values.
This call comes as an opportunity for the Rwenzururu Kingdom to demonstrate its existence and significance, following its recognition as a cultural kingdom in Uganda in 2009.
The King introduced a set of five guiding principles for the Kingdom's resurgence, including reconciliation, peace-building, development, mind-set change, and unity in diversity. These principles aim to guide the Rwenzururu Kingdom towards a prosperous and harmonious future.
Additionally, King Mumbere encouraged his subjects and residents of
the Rwenzori region to actively engage in productive activities and prioritize education for their children as essential steps in combating poverty, hunger, and illiteracy in their communities.
In his remarks, the Minister of State for Gender and Culture, Hon. Peace Mutuuzo, who also serves as the Women's representative for Bunyangabu district, urged the people of the Rwenzori region to
embrace tourism as a means to promote their area. She emphasized the need to develop human capital resources to enhance the influence of tourism, considering the abundance of beautiful flora and fauna in the Rwenzururu Kingdom.
However, she cautioned against politicians who may inadvertently sow discord among communities, underscoring the detrimental impact of such actions.
Godfrey Baluku Kabyanga, the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, also appealed to the Vice President to enhance security in
Kasese District and the broader region to counteract heinous acts perpetrated by ADF rebel attacks. He acknowledged the government's engagement through the Parish Development Model program, which aims to diversify the economy for Uganda's less privileged citizens

Minister Kabyanga also warned against self-interested individuals misappropriating funds intended for beneficiaries, calling for immediate cessation of such practices.

government initiatives and tourism promotion, reflects a collective effort towards a brighter future for the Rwenzururu Kingdom and its people
