Kasese Youth Link for Development launchs a campaign of encouraging learners to stay in School

Kasese Youth Link for Development recently initiated a program aimed at raising awareness among school-going children, encouraging them to stay in school and complete their education.

During a press conference held after a meeting with students from Munkunyu Secondary School in Kinyamaseke Town Council, Mr. Kato Ronald, the Director of Kasese Youth Link for Development, emphasized the importance of providing career guidance to students.

The goal is to deter them from engaging in activities that could lead to dropping out of school, such as substance abuse and unwanted pregnancies among girls.

Mr. Kato explained that this initiative has driven Kasese Youth Link for Development to establish a specialized program targeting school-going children and youth, primarily at the secondary and primary levels.

The program aims to educate them on fundamental aspects of life, including agriculture, savings, and credit, as well as skills that will help them earn money to fulfill their basic needs, such as acquiring sanitary pads and schoolbooks.

Madam Byakatonda Ester, a teacher with nearly two decades of experience at Munkunyu Secondary School, praised the initiative for its timeliness. She believes it will help students develop self-esteem and make informed decisions based on the wisdom shared by their elders and counselors.

During a meeting with the newly elected leaders of the Kasese Youth for Development School Club, Atolere Joan, who was chosen as the Speaker, and Joseph Thembo, elected as Chairperson, both students of Munkunyu Secondary School, offered valuable advice to their peers.

They urged fellow youth to avoid engaging in premarital relationships and substance abuse, emphasizing the importance of focusing on their studies for the betterment of their future.

This initiative is a positive step toward empowering the youth and ensuring they have the guidance and knowledge they need to make informed decisions and stay committed to their education.
