Challenging Day for PLE Supervisors in Kasese Municipality Amidst Rising River Nyamwamba Levels

Kasese Municipality faced a daunting day as Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) supervisors were assigned to schools near the Nyamwamba River.

This situation unfolded after heavy rainfall in the Rwenzori mountains caused the water levels in the river to surge.

Supervisors and exam distributors for PLE 2023 in Kasese Municipality encountered difficulties in reaching their examination centers due to the swelling Nyamwamba River.

Schools like Mburakasaka and Masule, situated along the banks of the Nyamwamba River in Kasese Municipality, became accessible only by crossing the river on foot.

The situation has raised concerns among PLE supervisors and officials, particularly if the Nyamwamba River continues to pose challenges during the examination period.

By 10:00 AM, some schools in Kasese Municipality had not received the first set of examination papers due to delivery delays.

However, Madam Kurusumu Mosh, the Principal Inspector of Schools in Kasese district, has urged PLE supervisors to accommodate pregnant candidates and breastfeeding mothers during their final PLE exams without causing any disruptions.

In the country a total of 749,371 Primary Seven candidates started their final exams at 14,778 centre today, writing Mathematics Paper in the morning and Social Studies & Religious Education in the afternoon. Tomorrow, the candidates will do Integrated Science Paper in the morning and close with English in the afternoon
